The Chaz Bono sex change story has certainly stirred a lot of controversy. These before and after photos show Chaz Bono from the transformation of a woman to a man. When asked why she wasn't content being a lesbian, she simply replied "Because I'm not a woman." Chaz has actually had 8 years of therapy and had to work out many personal issues before proceeding with the operation. When asked about how she felt on having her breasts removed she said this, "It was the greatest day, probably of my life. It was getting rid of something on my body that felt like it didn't belong there since they started to develop at, like, 11 or 12." Here's Chaz Bono before and after the sex change.

Scar revision/Keloid revision/Hypertrophic scar revision is surgery to improve or reduce the appearance of scars. It also restores function, and corrects skin changes (disfigurement) caused by an injury, wound, or previous surgery. The revision may improve the appearance of the scar or restore function to a part of the body that may have been restricted by the scar.

Scar Revision Before And After

A scar is the body's natural way of healing and replacing lost or damaged skin and is usually composed of fibrous tissue. When the skin is in the process of recovering from an injury, whether the result of an accident, surgery, a burn, or acne,or many other reason, scarring will occur wherever multiple layers of the skin have been affected. Once a scar forms, it is permanent but may be made less visible or relocated surgically through Scar revision Surgery/Z-plasty.

Scar Revision Before And After

Scar Revision Before And After

The visibility of the scar following the surgery depends upon the size of the scar, the depth of the original wound, the thickness of the patient's skin, the direction of the scar and the color of the patient's skin.

There are many different types of scars, including the following:

Scar Reduction

keloid scars
Treatments: Steroid injections, cryotherapy, pressure therapy, surgery

hypertrophic scars
Treatments: Steroid injections, surgery

Scar Revision Surgery

contractures
Treatments: Skin graft or skin flap, Z-plasty, tissue expansion

Atrophic Scar

There are various treatment options that may be used for scar revision. The type of treatment you have will depend on the type and extent of scars being revised.

Chemical peels
Laser skin resurfacing
Dermabrasion
Scar excision

Scar Treatments

Some of the potential risks of scar revision surgery include:

Bleeding
Bruising
Infection
Feeling unsatisfied with the final results
Negative reaction to anesthesia
Reactions to medications
Breathing problems
Scarring
Blood clots
Keloid formation
Swelling

Healing the Skin's Healing Process - Scar Removal

Scarring occurs when the wound-healing process is disrupted by certain factors such as too much or too little collagen. For example, a keloid scar is a mass of collagen. How severe or noticeable the scar is depends on the type and location of the injury.

Scar Treatment

Unfortunately, facial scarring can also be a source of embarrassment and low self-esteem. Today, new surgical procedures, Scar Removal /skin resurfacing technologies, and other treatments are making it possible for facial scars and scar tissue to be successfully erased or minimized, greatly improving the skin's appearance.

The word scar is derived from the Greek word eschara, meaning fireplace.

Scarring occur when the deep dermis layer of skin is damaged. The deeper the damage, the worse the scar.

Every skin injury or wound heals with a scar. The appearance of a scar however depends on the type and extent of the wound, as well as how an individual's body heals.

Factors affecting scar formation

1) The size and depth of the wound.

2) Location of the injury on the body.

3) The blood supply to the area.

4) Age of the person

5) The thickness, type and colour of the person's skin.

6) The direction of the scar.

Once a scar forms, it is permanent. However, it may be made less visible or displaced surgically.

Rhinoplasty Before And After

May 17, 2014

Rhinoplasty is a cosmetic surgery which is used to refurbish or reshape the nose. This cosmetic surgery is used to correct an abnormality which may be due to injury or birth defect. The good thing about Rhinoplasty is there are no visible cuts or consequent scars to the face because almost all of the operations can perform all the way through nostrils.

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure which is usually performed by either an otolaryngologist-head and neck surgeon, maxillofacial surgeon, or plastic surgeon. Rhinoplasty can be combined with other surgical procedures such as chin augmentation to enhance the aesthetic results.

Hare Are Some Selected Pictures Of Rhinoplasty Before And After:

Surgical procedures and types:

Surgical approach: Open vs. closed Rhinoplasty

There are two possible approaches to the nose: closed approach and open approach. In closed rhinoplasty, incisions are made inside the nostrils. In open rhinoplasty, an additional inconspicuous incision is made across the columella (the bit of skin that separates the nostrils).

Primary rhinoplasty and Secondary/Revision rhinoplasty

Primary rhinoplasty refers to first-time rhinoplasty whether it is performed for aesthetic, functional, or reconstructive purposes.

Revision rhinoplasty, also known as secondary rhinoplasty, is a nose operation performed to correct or revise an unsatisfactory outcome from a previous rhinoplasty.

Your nose may be straightened, a hump on the bridge lowered or a depression filled for better contour. The shape and size of your nasal tip may be refined and the angle between the tip and the upper lip changed. The position of the tip and the bridge in relation to each other can be improved for a more natural look. The distance from the face to the tip of the nose can be altered. Modern surgery aims for refinement of the nasal features.

Functional rhinoplasty and Reconstructive rhinoplasty

Reconstructive rhinoplasty refers to restoring the normal shape and function of the nose following damage from a traumatic accident, autoimmune disorder, intra-nasal drug abuse, previous injudicious cosmetic surgery, cancer involvement, or congenital abnormality.

Rhinoplasty is one of the most popular surgical cosmetic procedures in the World. If you're self-conscious about your nose, you may be a good candidate. Rhinoplasty reshapes the nose for aesthetic and corrective purposes. Whether the issue is birth defect, injury, or age-related changes, rhinoplasty can help provide balance and proportion to your nose and face.

Non-surgical rhinoplasty

Non-surgical rhinoplasty refers to reshaping the nose with injectable substances rather than surgical means of altering the shape and structure of the nose. It is also called a "non-surgical nose job", and can be performed in the outpatient setting without anesthesia.

The cost of rhinoplasty surgery will vary greatly, depending on several factors. Each individual procedure is unique, depending on the patient’s physiology and goals. Furthermore, different regions of the country will have different pricing.

I Think These Pictures of Rhinoplasty Before And After Will Definitely Guide You Towards Right Decision.

Lip Augmentation Before And After

May 17, 2014

Lip augmentation/enhancement is a type of cosmetic surgery that aims to improve the appearance of the lips by increasing their fullness through Lip enlargement. Lip augmentation enhances the contour and fullness of lips for a younger, healthier appearance.

Lip Augmentation Before And After

The colored portion of the lips thins out and the arch of the upper lip (cupid's bow) flattens. This problem is especially noticeable in women with naturally thin lips. Lip augmentation is appropriate for patients who wish to enhance the lips they areborn with and for patients who wish to restore the lips aging takes away.

Full lips with an accentuated border have often been associated with beauty and youth. It has been suggested that this is because the lips occupy both sides of the face and, with the smile, constitute a major focal point of overall facial beauty.

Lip augmentation/enhancement is Often performed in combination with other cosmetic procedures, such as a facelift, brow lift, rhinoplasty, and chin implant or cheek implant, lip augmentation is meant to provide overall balance for a rejuvenated facial appearance.

Whether you have always had thin lips, or you want to return your lips to the shape and fullness they had when you were younger, a lip augmentation procedure may provide you with the look you want. If you are dissatisfied or self-conscious about your lips, this surgery can open up new possibilities for you to change your appearance and self-image.

The best candidates for lip augmentation?

You might not a good candidate for lip augmentation if you have oral herpes, scarring, or certain diseases such as diabetes, lupus, connective tissues disorders, or blood clotting problems.

Good candidates for lip augmentation are those who have realistic expectations of the outcome. Certain conditions or diseases can increase your chances of complications, such as blood clots, diabetes, or poor circulation. If you are a smoker, this may also be a complicating factor.

Lip Augmentation Procedure / Temporary lip augmentation

Injectable Fillers/Lip Augmentation Injections/Lip Injections These are performed on an outpatient basis in your doctor's office or an outpatient center and you will be sent home the same day. Your surgeon may use local anesthesia to make you more comfortable during the injection of the filler. The local anesthetic (pain killer) may be topical (applied to the skin) or injected prior to the procedure.

Lip Injections or Lip implants can enhance and improve your natural look, but they're not designed to create a radical change in your appearance. Although non-surgical procedures give excellent temporary solutions to cosmetic enhancements, they do not provide permanent results.

Artecoll/Artecoll Lip Augmentation

Artecoll is composed mainly of tiny synthetic beads (polymethyl methacrylate) that stay in the lips, and raise them. This technique lasts longer than fat or collagen injections.

Autologen/ Autologen Lip Augmentation

Bovine Collagen/Collagen Lip Augmentation

Dermalogen/Dermalogen Lip Augmentation

Dermalogen is extracted from the skin of a cadaver. The donor material is screened and processed to avoid the spread of disease. The effects are temporary, and are similar to the effects of collagen injections.

HylaForm/HylaForm Lip Augmentation

Restylane/Restylane Lip Augmentation

Restylane is a clear gel; the hyaluronic acid in Restylane is similar to that naturally found in the body.

Juvaderm/Juvaderm Lip Augmentation

SCULPTRA/SCULPTRA Lip Augmentation

Radiesse/Radiesse Lip Augmentation Or Radiance/Radiance Lip Augmentation

EVOLENCE/EVOLENCE Lip Augmentation

Permanent lip augmentation

Implants and Surgeries/Lip Augmentation Surgery

Permanent lip augmentation results in beautifully sculpted and lifted lips with materials that resist absorption into the body, unlike temporary injectables. This procedure is generally performed under local anesthetic, and in some cases, light sedation.

You will most likely receive local anesthesia. A procedure can take up to two hours at your doctor's office or outpatient center, depending on the complexity, and you will be sent home the same day.

Surgery is not just for the aging face, but also for those that desire to change what mother nature failed to give us: fuller lips (as well as smoother complexions, higher cheekbones and sculpted faces.)

Alloderm/Alloderm Lip Augmentation

Alloderm is the most popular material for lip augmentation. It is a natural collagen sheet harvested from cadavers and is screened and highly processed. The standards by which it is processed are very strict. The risk of infection is approximately 2%.

Under a local anesthesia, the material is inserted through tiny incisions made in the inside corners of the mouth. Stitches are used to close the incisions. AlloDerm eventually becomes integrated with the natural tissues of the body. The material can be absorbed, so the results are only temporary, lasting from 6 months to a year.

Fascia/Fascia Lip Augmentation

Fascia (white connective tissue) extracted from a cadaver can be injected or surgically implanted.

Fat Injection/Fat Injection Lip Augmentation

Fat can also be injected into the lip. The fat is harvested from another area of the body (often the abdomen or thighs) and is purified before it is injected into the lips. An advantage to this procedure is that there is no possibility of an allergic reaction. As with collagen, results are temporary but usually lasts longer than collagen injections.

Fat injections can cause lumping or scarring.

Fat grafting/Fat Transfer/Lip Augmentation Fat Transfer

Surgeons harvest through liposuction or excision the patient’s fat from places on the body where it can be spared and either injected or surgically placed into the lips. Surgical applications usually require general anesthesia.

Gore-Tex, SoftForm and soft ePTFE /Gortex Lip Augmentation

Gore-Tex, SoftForm and soft ePTFE are other synthetic options with permanent results. They do not shrink and are never absorbed into the body. They also remain in place because scar tissue forms on either end.

To insert the implant, a small incision is made in the inside of the lip. The material is then made into the shape of a small tube and it is inserted with a small needle.

Synthetic implants are foreign substances and may become infected or be rejected by the body. If this occurs, the implants can be removed.

Recovery Time

It's important that you know yourself. Discuss how much time you think you'll need for recovery with your doctor. It may be necessary to take some time off work. You also may not be able to exercise for a few days to a few weeks depending on the type of procedure.

Your recovery will depend on your lifestyle and which procedure you undergo.

Return to normal activities: usually within a day.Bruising and swelling may last as long as a week. Graft recipients require 1 to 2 weeks. They may experience some problems with drooling.

Grafting also may leave the lips feeling unnaturally stiff for 2 to 3 months after the procedure. Any non-dissolving stitches may be removed about 7-10 days after the procedure.

As with any procedure it is recommended that you stop aspirin or any type of blood thinner two weeks prior to treatment to help minimize bruising and swelling.

Risks and side effects

Most patients are satisfied with their lip augmentation procedure and would undergo the treatment again. As with any surgery, there are risks and complications. You can experience bleeding that might require going back to surgery to stop the bleeding. There is also a risk of infection that may require antibiotics or implant removal.

Overaggressive injections can lead to lumpiness while too little can result in ridges.Common reactions can range from redness, swelling or itching at the injection site(s). Other possible complications include bleeding, uneven lips, movement of the implants or extrusion, when an implant breaks through the outermost surface of the skin. The usual, expected swelling and bruising can last from several days to a week.

Graft procedures may also leave some lips feeling unnaturally stiff for 2 to 3 months.

Patients with facial nerve disorders, severe hypertension or recurrent herpes simplex lesions should also eschew lip augmentation. As in all surgeries, smokers complicate completion of their procedure as well as the speed of healing.

Gore-tex, despite its impressive rates of success in lip augmentation and other procedures, is nonetheless a foreign body which bears a slight risk of becoming infected or rejected.

Fat transfer can last longer than other injected materials but can have lumping or scarring effects.

Lip Augmentation Cost/Lip Augmentation Prices The cost of lip augmentation fillers is about $350 per session. The cost for a fat transfer lip filler is up to $4,500. The cost depends on a variety of factors, including the type of doctor who will be performing the procedure, the type of filler used, and the geographical area where the procedure is performed.

I have attached Some More Lip Augmentation Before And After Photos/Pictures have a look on them and have Your Say.

Microdermabrasion Before And After

May 14, 2014

Microdermabrasion is one of the more recent skin-care techniques or mechanical exfoliation that is one of the most popular, time-proven methods of consistent skin care that dramatically improve skin tone and texture in which the stratum corneum (dead outermost surface of the skin) is partially or completely removed by light abrasion, to remove sun-damaged skin and to remove or lessen scars and dark spots on the skin. It is Done with the help of micro aluminium oxide crystals or diamond tipped wand, leaving a new, fresh layer underneath.

It is the least invasive dermatological procedure (compared to dermabrasion and laser resurfacing). It is also more affordable than cosmetic/plastic surgery, chemical peels and Botox injections.
